The Powers Sports Memorabilia Show - What to do when an item comes back incorrect from autograph signing
August 08, 20181 min read
What to do when you get an item back from a signing and it doesn’t meet your expectations? It happens every now and then. Here are some steps to take and ones to prevent it from happening.
Contact vendor immediately. I prefer doing this via email so I have documentation. Tell them what your problem is and be specific on how you would like it resolved. New item, different item, refund?
Be courteous and kind. No need to be THAT guy that yells at everyone. Focus on the solution, not the problem. Sometimes it isn’t the dealers fault. Athletes can be tricky and moody at times and unwilling to do certain things they agreed to. Sometimes issues pop up like a pen exploding that weren’t foreseen.
Be open to ideas and solutions. Let’s say the guy signing doesn’t sign much or ever. Might not be able to replace. So be open to different items or other solutions.
Get a resolution date in writing. Say you are going to get a new item, ask when you should have it by? Or if getting done at next signing, get a firm date on that. Just so everyone is on the same page on timeline.
Resolution still not met? Don’t be afraid to do a chargeback or PayPal claim. I really hate doing these because its just a pain in the but, but sometimes you have no choice.
