You'll often see sellers advertise a card as a "PSA 10 Gem Mint," but what does that actually mean?
Does it mean the card is perfect?
Does it mean the autograph is perfect?
Not necessarily.

What Does PSA Look At When Grading a Card?

Centering
Centering measures how well the printed image is positioned on the card.
For a PSA Gem Mint 10, PSA states the front centering should generally be no worse than approximately 55/45, while the back may be as much as 75/25.
Corners
Corners should appear sharp and clean.
Soft corners, fraying, whitening, or rounding can lower a card's grade.
A PSA 10 should have four sharp corners.
Edges

Does a PSA 10 Mean the Autograph Is a 10?
No.
This is one of the most common points of confusion among collectors.
If you have an autographed card that simply says:
PSA 10
That usually means the card itself received a grade of 10.
It does not automatically mean the autograph received a grade.
If the autograph has been graded, PSA will indicate that separately on the label.
For example:
- Card: PSA 10
- Auto: 10
or
- GEM MT 10
- AUTO 10
The autograph grade is its own evaluation and is separate from the card grade.
Is Every PSA 10 Exactly the Same?
