Bryce Young is a young and promising quarterback who has captured the attention of football fans across the country. Born on July 19, 2002, in Pasadena, California, Young was raised in Southern California, where he began playing football at a young age.
Young attended Mater Dei High School, one of the most prestigious high school football programs in the country. During his time there, he quickly made a name for himself as a star quarterback. In his sophomore year, he led the team to a state championship and was named the Player of the Game. By his junior year, he had already become one of the top recruits in the country, attracting interest from top-tier college programs.
In December 2019, Young announced that he would be attending the University of Alabama, one of the most successful college football programs in history. He enrolled early and began practicing with the team in the spring of 2020.
Young's first year at Alabama was a learning experience, as he was the backup quarterback to Mac Jones. However, he did get some playing time in mop-up duty and showed flashes of brilliance. In his limited playing time, Young completed 13 of 22 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.
In 2021, Young was named the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide. He quickly showed that he was up to the task, leading the team to a 3-0 record to start the season. He also showed that he was a threat both with his arm and his legs, throwing for 1,127 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 55 yards and three touchdowns in his first four games.
Young's performance in the fourth game of the season against Florida was particularly impressive. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 59 yards and another touchdown. His performance earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Despite his relative lack of experience, Young has already shown that he has the talent and poise to be a star quarterback. He has drawn comparisons to former Alabama quarterbacks such as Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts, both of whom went on to play in the NFL.
Young's success is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his craft. He has been praised by his coaches and teammates for his work ethic and his ability to learn quickly. As he continues to develop as a quarterback, it is likely that he will continue to be one of the most exciting players in football.
With the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers selected Young with hopes of him leading them to a Super Bowl.
