Chicago was on its way to a playoff victory to help propel them to a World Series something they had not played in since 1908. Fan Steve Bartman got in the way of Moises Alou making a catch in the 8th inning of game 6 of the NLCS which would have put Chicago only 4 outs away from going to the World Series. Instead Florida scored 8 runs in the inning and the Cubs lost the game. They went on to lose game 7 also and the series.
