One of the Best Autograph Signing Experiences I Have Had
October 04, 20171 min read
Athletes sometimes get a bad rap. We all see it online, at games, and in talking with our friends. Especially when it comes to sports memorabilia autograph signings. It can be pretty clear when going to a big autograph event which athlete is excited to be there and which ones are there for the paycheck. Nothing wrong with the latter, but fans prefer athletes to be cool, funny, and engaging so they can walk away with a great story. So it can be really refreshing to meet an athlete and get such a positive experience.
I had the opportunity to work with former Nebraska Cornhuskers 3 x National Champion and College Football Hall of Famer Grant Wistromover the weekend. Wasn't a huge signing by any means, rather small, just a few items. Grant took his time with each item, asking exactly how I wanted it signed and where. I even made a mistake on a pen choice with a few footballs. No big deal at all, Grant was willing to sign them again.
Conversation was great and easy. You can tell Grant is an easy going smart guy who generally loves people. No ego whatsoever and very kind to all. He has lost all of that old football weight too, not an easy accomplishment. Easy to forget he is one of the greatest College Football players of all-time.
Cheers to you Grant,
