Super Bowl 52 - Eagles or Patriots Win Better for Autograph Business?

Every time the Super Bowl teams are announced I think to myself, which team winning is best for business?  Let's take a look.

The common thought is if the New England Patriots win, the popularity of players such as Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski would make the Patriots a better selling sports memorabilia autograph should they win the Super Bowl.  I agree, Brady and Gronk are some of the better selling autographs in football.  Expensive yes, but these two are some of the most popular players in football.  Danny Amendola signed Patriots mini helmets and Julian Edelman have become proven autograph sellers.

But here's the problem, the Patriots have won and they have won a lot.  Not saying the excitement of winning another Super Bowl win won't be there for the fans, but when you haven't won a Super Bowl in the common era (since the Super Bowl started in 1967) as the Philadelphia Eagles have, there is no comparison.  An Eagles win will have WAY more excitement from their fans.

Downside of an Eagles win has to be the lack of stars.  Quarterback Carson Wentz of course is their most popular player, but he's injured and not playing in the game.  His replacement, Nick Foles has been fantastic.  Definitely an autograph you want as an Eagles fan should they win.  Beyond him, you have Wide Receiver Alshon Jeffery and Tight End Zach Ertz.  On the defensive side, Fletcher Cox and Nigel Bradham have been studs all year.

Short term, a Patriots win would potentially garner more sales simply because of their star power.  However, long term, an Eagles win would bring in WAY more sales, especially if they go a few years or a decade without another win.  Philadelphiais a HUGE market for sports memorabilia and the Eagles are the talk of the town.

So which team winning is better for the autograph business?  Eagles, Eagles, Eagles.
